매년 기록을 갈아치우는 폭염과 점차 사라지는 남북극의 현상은 지구 온난화에서 열대화로 넘어가며 극단적인 기후 변화가 우리의 일상에 미치는 영향을 실감케 한다. 이러한 기후 비상상태에 직면한 상황 속에서 각 산업 분야는 지속 가능한 미래를 향한 방안을 모색하며 극단적인 기후 변화에 대응하기 위한 전략을 수립하고 있다.

그중 공연예술의 탄소배출량은 상당히 주목해야 할 문제이다. 2020년 기준, 공연장 이용자 1인당 평균 탄소배출량은 최소 16톤에서 최대 32톤에 달한다. 2023년 대중예술 장르를 포함한 공연예술 전체 공연건수는 약 20,404건으로 이때 사용되고 버려지는 의상, 소품, 무대장치 등의 자원의 양은 결코 무시할 수 없는 수준이다. 이는 공연예술계가 직면한 환경적 문제에 대해 명확히 보여준다. 공연예술에서 지속 가능한 실천을 촉진하는 것이 왜 중요한지 알 수 있는 것이다..

In the face of this climate emergency, each industry is seeking ways toward a sustainable future and establishing strategies to respond to extreme climate change.

Among them, the carbon emissions of performing arts are an issue that deserves considerable attention. As of 2020, the average carbon emissions per concert hall user ranges from a minimum of 16 tons to a maximum of 32 tons.
