KNB Movement Series는 2015년 강수진 단장 및 예술감독 취임 후 시작한 안무가 발굴 첫 프로젝트이다. 새로운 안무가를 발굴, 육성하기 위한 프로젝트로, 국립발레단 단원(현재는 지도위원 포함)들에게 안무의 기회를 제공하고 있다. 또한 이를 통해 한국의 발레 레퍼토리를 보유하겠다는 장기적인 목표를 가지고 꾸준히 진행해 왔다. 

올해로 9회를 맞이한 KNB Movement Series는 매해 단원들의 새로운 도전과 성장을 통해 신선한 작품을 선보이고 있다. 이번 무대에는 김나연, 김준경, 김재민, 박슬기, 선호현, 이영철(전 수석무용수, 현 지도위원) 등 여섯 명의 단원 및 지도위원이 안무가로 참여하였다.

김준경 〈inersection〉

지난해 〈노을〉로 안무가로 데뷔한 김준경은 이번에는 EDM 음악과 접목한 흥미로운 작품을 선보인다. 16명의 무용수가 등장하는 큰 규모의 작품이다.

김재민 〈눈썹 세는 날(섣달그믐)〉

작년 시리즈8에서 안무가로 데뷔하였다. 이 작품은 섣달그믐날의 우리 민족의 풍습을 그려내고 있다.

선호현 〈아름다움 Me〉

그동안 한국의 아름다움을 발레로 표현하는 작품들을 안무해 온 선호현은 이번에는 베토벤 피아노소나타 8번 〈비창〉을 발레로 표현한다.

김나연 〈Right〉

김나연은 무용수의 유연하고 아름다운 몸이 돋보이는 작품을 안무해 왔다. 이번에 선보일 작품은 인간의 원초적 감각인 ‘직감’에 대한 이야기이다.

이영철 〈공명〉

국립발레단의 수석무용수였던 이영철은 시리즈1에서부터 매년 새로운 작품을 발표해 왔다. 매 해 독특한 주제로 작품을 안무하는데, 올해는 우리의 전통 악기인 ‘징’을 소재로 감정의 울림과 에너지를 표현한다.

박슬기 〈OS〉

2016년 시리즈2에서 안무가로 데뷔한 박슬기는 올해 여섯 번째 작품을 발표한다. 〈OS〉에서는오늘날 뜨거운 감자인 AI의 개발을 소재로 하여 인감의 공감능력과의 관계를 다룬다.

Seulgi Park 〈OS〉

The KNB Movement Series is the first project to discover choreographers that began after Kang Soo-jin took office as director and artistic director in 2015. As a project to discover and nurture new choreographers, it provides choreography opportunities to members of the National Ballet (currently including guidance committee members). In addition, we have steadily progressed with the long-term goal of maintaining Korea's ballet repertoire. 

The KNB Movement Series, now in its 9th year, presents fresh works every year through new challenges and growth of its members. Six members and instructors participated as choreographers on this stage, including Na-yeon Kim, Jun-kyung Kim, Jae-min Kim, Seul-gi Park, Seon-hyeon Seon, and Young-cheol Lee (former principal dancer, current instructor).

Kim Jun-kyung 〈inersection〉 

Kim Jun-kyung, who debuted as a choreographer last year with <Sunset>, presents an interesting work combining EDM music this time. It is a large-scale work featuring 16 dancers.

Jaemin Kim 〈Eyebrow Counting Day (New Year’s Eve)〉

He debuted as a choreographer in Series 8 last year. This work depicts our people’s customs on New Year’s Eve.

Seon-Hyeon Seon 〈Beauty Me〉

Seon-Hyeon Seon, who has been choreographing works that express the beauty of Korea through ballet, will now express Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8, "Pathetique," as a ballet.

Nayeon Kim 〈Right〉

Nayeon Kim has choreographed works that highlight the dancer’s flexible and beautiful body. The work to be presented this time is a story about ‘intuition’, a fundamental human sense.

Youngcheol Lee 〈Resonance〉

Lee Young-cheol, who was a principal dancer at the National Ballet, has been presenting new works every year since Series 1. Every year, we choreograph a piece with a unique theme, and this year, we express emotional resonance and energy using our traditional musical instrument, ‘Gong’.

Seulgi Park 〈OS〉

Seulgi Park, who debuted as a choreographer in Series 2 in 2016, presents his sixth work this year. In 〈OS〉, the development of AI, which is a hot potato today, is taken as a subject and the relationship between the seal's ability to empathize is dealt with.
