〈호두까기인형〉은 독일 작가 E.T.A. 호프만의 동화 『호두까기인형과 생쥐왕』을 원작으로 한 작품으로 표트르 일리치 차이콥스키의 서정적이고 웅장한 음악과 유리 그리고로비치의 독창적인 안무가 더해져 전 세계적으로 사랑받는 발레 명작으로 자리 잡았다. 본 작품은 1892년 초연 이후 130년이 넘도록 꾸준히 재해석되며 무대에 오르고 있다. 국립발레단은 러시아 발레의 정통성을 담은 유리 그리고로비치 버전을 통해 차별화된 〈호두까기인형〉을 선보이며 국내외 관객들에게 높은 평가를 받고 있다.

출연진의 조화: 스타와 신예가 빚어내는 새로운 무대

Korean National Ballet's 2024 〈The Nutcracker〉 to light up Christmas at the end of the year, returns this year

A special performance to be enjoyed with family, friends, and loved ones in the warm month of December that wraps up the year is back. This performance, co-hosted by Korean National Ballet and the Seoul Arts Center, will be held 14 times from December 14 to 25, 2024 at the Seoul Arts Center Opera Theater. 〈The Nutcracker〉, which has become a representative ballet work symbolizing Christmas, has been loved by families and ballet enthusiasts, recording sold-out performances every year.

〈The Nutcracker〉, which contains the story of the adventure of the main character, Marie, in Christmas Land with the Walnut Prince on Christmas Eve, guides the audience into a world of dreams and fantasy. The scene where the Nutcracker gifted by Drosselmeyer comes to life and transforms into a prince through a confrontation with the Mouse King, and performs various dances such as the Snowflake Dance, Divertissement, and Waltz of the Flowers with Marie makes you feel as if you are falling into a Christmas fairy tale.

〈The Nutcracker〉 is based on the fairy tale 『The Nutcracker and the Mouse King』 by German author E.T.A. Hoffmann, and with the lyrical and magnificent music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the unique choreography of Yuri Grigorovich, it has become a ballet masterpiece loved all over the world. Since its premiere in 1892, this work has been consistently reinterpreted and performed on stage for over 130 years. Korean National Ballet of Korea has been highly praised by domestic and international audiences for presenting a differentiated version of 〈The Nutcracker〉 through the Yuri Grigorovich version that contains the authenticity of Russian ballet.

Harmony of the cast: A new stage created by stars and newcomers

In this performance, Korean National Ballet's representative dancers and rising newcomers will harmonize to present Marie and the Prince with various charms. Leading figures of Korean National Ballet, including Park Ye-eun, Jo Yeon-jae, and Shim Hyun-hee, will appear as Marie, and next-generation stars, including Kwak Hwa-kyung, Jung Eun-ji, Ahn Su-yeon, and Kim Byeol, will inject new energy. In addition, talented dancers such as Lee Jae-woo, Kim Ki-wan, Heo Seo-myeong, Ha Ji-seok, Kwak Dong-hyun, and Yang Jun-young will appear as the Prince, captivating the audience with their own unique charms.
