오는 4월, 무용계의 미래를 책임질 젊은 안무가들이 대학로예술극장 소극장 무대에 오른다. 2025젊은안무자창작공연은‘Next Step YCCP!’라는 슬로건 아래, 젊은 창작자들의 도전과 변화를 조명하는 자리다. 올해 공연은 4월 23일, 25일, 27일, 30일 총 4회에 걸쳐 12명의 신진 안무가들이 자신만의 색깔의 가진 작품 세계를 펼쳐 보인다.

2025젊은안무자창작공연은 단순한 신진 안무가 발표회가 아니다. 올해 선정된 12인의 안무가들은 치열한 오디션을 거쳐 무대에 설 기회를 얻었으며 그들의 작품이 동시대 무용의 새로운 흐름을 제시할 가능성을 품고 있다. 한국무용부터 현대무용까지 다양한 장르의 안무가들이 각자의 철학을 바탕으로 움직임을 조형한다. 또한, 해외 심사위원이 함께 참여해 국제적인 시각에서 작품을 평가하고 피드백을 제공하는 만큼 참가자들에게는 국내뿐 아니라 글로벌 무대로 나아갈 수 있는 발판이 될 전망이다.

신선한 감각과 도전적인 무대들

올해 무대에 오를 작품들은 신선한 감각과 대담한 시도로 주목받고 있다. A조 강진비, 김도현, 이규성, B조 김지연, 강현욱, 김세연, C조 박주환, 윤나영, 김재권, D조 양승관, 오승희, 최민욱으로 팀이 구성되어 있으며 각기 다른 주제와 접근 방식을 통해 관객들에게 동시대 무용의 확장된 스펙트럼을 경험하게 할 예정이다.

스타킹의 신축성을 활용해 인간관계의 팽창과 수축을 표현하거나, 돈이 인간과 사회에 미치는 영향을 풍자하는 등 신진 안무가들은 날카로운 시선과 독창적인 방식으로 움직임을 구성한다. 또한, 원초적 본능과 사회적 미적 기준의 충돌, 나약한 존재로서의 인간과 삶의 순환을 무대 위에서 풀어내며 불안을 신체적으로 구현하는 등 감각적인 무대를 선보일 예정이다.

그들만의 고유한 색깔을 담아낸 안무를 통해 무용이 시대를 어떻게 반영하며 변화해 가는지를 엿볼 수 있을 것이다.

국내를 넘어 글로벌 무대로

이번 공연은 단순한 국내 신진 안무가들의 경연이 아니다. 해외 심사위원이 참여하여 국제 무용계의 흐름 속에서 작품을 바라보고 우수 안무자에게는 해외 페스티벌 초청 기회도 제공된다. 지난해 시애틀국제댄스페스티벌 초청 사례처럼 젊은안무자창작공연은 신진 안무가들이 해외 무대에서 활동할 수 있는 실질적인 연결고리 역할을 해왔다.

특히, 이번 공연의 최우수 안무자에게는 문화체육관광부 장관상이 수여되며 수상자는 서울무용제 열정춤판 무대에 오를 기회를 얻는다. 이는 단발적인 공연에 그치는 것이 아니라 지속적인 활동으로 이어질 수 있는 중요한 계기가 될 것이다.

The next generation of choreographers' challenges, meet their 'Next Step': 2025 Young Choreographer Creation Performance

This April, young choreographers who will take charge of the future of the dance world will take to the stage of Daehakro Arts Theater Small Theater. The 2025 Young Choreographer Creation Performance is a place to highlight the challenges and changes of young creators under the slogan, ‘Next Step YCCP!’. This year, the performance will be held on April 23, 25, 27, and 30, with 12 new choreographers unfolding their own unique world of works.

The 2025 Young Choreographer Creation Performance is not simply a presentation of new choreographers. The 12 choreographers selected this year have been given the opportunity to stand on stage through fierce auditions, and their works have the potential to suggest a new trend in contemporary dance. Choreographers of various genres, from Korean dance to modern dance, shape movements based on their own philosophies. In addition, since overseas judges participate to evaluate the works from an international perspective and provide feedback, it is expected to be a stepping stone for the participants to advance to the global stage as well as the domestic stage.

Fresh Sense and Challenging Stages

The works that will be performed on stage this year are drawing attention for their fresh sensibility and bold attempts. The teams are composed of Group A Kang Jin-bi, Kim Do-hyun, Lee Gyu-seong, Group B Kim Ji-yeon, Kang Hyun-wook, Kim Se-yeon, Group C Park Joo-hwan, Yoon Na-young, Kim Jae-kwon, and Group D Yang Seung-kwan, Oh Seung-hee, and Choi Min-wook, and they plan to let the audience experience the expanded spectrum of contemporary dance through different themes and approaches.

The new choreographers use the elasticity of stockings to express the expansion and contraction of human relationships, or satirize the influence of money on humans and society, composing movements with sharp perspectives and unique methods. They will also present sensational stages, such as physically embodying anxiety by unraveling the conflict between primal instincts and social aesthetic standards, and the cycle of life and humans as weak beings on stage.

You will be able to get a glimpse of how dance reflects the times and changes through choreography that contains their own unique colors.

Beyond Korea to the Global Stage

This performance is not simply a competition for new domestic choreographers. Overseas judges participate to look at the work in the context of the international dance scene, and excellent choreographers are also given the opportunity to be invited to overseas festivals. Like the case of the invitation to the Seattle International Dance Festival last year, the Young Choreographer Creative Performance has served as a practical link for new choreographers to perform on overseas stages.

In particular, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award will be awarded to the best choreographer of this performance, and the winner will have the opportunity to perform on the Seoul Dance Festival Passion Dance Stage. This will not be a one-time performance, but an important opportunity that can lead to continuous activities.
